Welcome to Holistic Horse & Rider Therapy

Holistic Horse & Rider Therapy approach offers an intervention that provides support for both the horse and the rider - this approach uniquely offers equine bodywork, rehabilitation and sports massage therapy for your horse; along with rider well-being, equine facilitated learning and personal development for you. The work often includes goal-oriented coaching, and will most certainly improve your overall horsemanship skills and develop a compassionately driven style of leadership.

Working holistically with body and mind connections and increased awareness  for both you and your horse.

Holistic approach means 'encompassing the whole of a thing, and not just a part'.

Utilizing compassionate leadership skills training and natural horsemanship methods to re-train your brain and engage your horse to develop a deeper, clearer communication style and build a more authentic relationship.

The approach focuses firstly on creating, and then building upon a solid foundation of trust; through the connections you maintain on a day-to-day basis, and embracing the elements needed for a progressive rewarding relationship. This intervention seeks to enhance the physical and emotional well-being, and the experience of partnership for both you and your horse.

Equine bodywork and massage therapy, and equine facilitated learning and personal development sessions are offered as individual, stand-alone sessions, but also work in alliance if you choose to engage with them both.

 HHRT Approach Includes

Equine Massage Therapy

There is an increasing amount of researched evidence which supports the potentials for massage therapy - to help heal our horses’ bodies, improving their physiological function, physical and emotional wellbeing and even enhancing their performance. Massage therapy is becoming more accepted and recognised worldwide by veterinary services and by the many professional sporting communities.  Massage therapy and sports massage play a very important role in the prevention of, and recovery from injury.

When we think about bodywork and massage therapies we may well assume that this is just about the muscles of the horses body. The reality of the musculoskeletal system is far more complex than just muscle, ligament and tendon health. Tightness and restrictions may also be situated within the myofascial tissue and this may affect the health of any of the horse's body. So, ensuring fascial tissue health is also integral to the overall health and wellness or the horse.

This intervention is also playing an important role in the development of our empathy for our four-legged friends, and certainly fosters our understanding regarding the need for a compassionate approach to partnership bonding and a stronger bonding in our relationships with our horses.

Equine Assisted Learning and Therapy

  • Focusing on building confidence, creating positive mindsets and improving overall personal well-being.
  • Setting, working towards and achieving personal goals
  • Establishing a compassionate leadership mindset.
  • Building trust and achieving deeper levels of communication
  • Creating more harmony in movement both on the groundwork which translates into the saddle.
  • Teaching you and your horse to be more relaxed horse in everyday situations.
  • Working through spooking issues and understanding the triggers.
